Manufacturers Day at the Races
posted on August 23rd, 2007

On August 18th 2007, the Shop Rat Foundation, Jackson Area Manufacturing Association and the Michigan Manufactures Association joined together and celebrated Michigan Manufacturing with the first annual "Manufacturers Day at the Races."
During the CARFAX 250 at the Michigan International Speedway, many gathered under and around the JAMA Hospitality tent and enjoyed the beautiful sunny August day. From beginning to end, from the silent auctions to the awards ceremony, this event proved to be a day that will always be remembered.
Manufacturers and organizations from Michigan donated products for the silent auction that ended with a group of happy winners of items such as the Think® Chair, Greg Biffle Quarter Panel Scrap Piece, Cresent® Tool Set and other items. The donors for this auction included Curtis & Curtis P.C., Alro Steel Corporation, Production Tool Supply of Jackson, Inalfa Sunroofs, Oetiker Inc, Coca-Cola North America, Roush Collections, Shop Rat Associates, and Steelcase.
The highlight of the event was the Master Shop Rat of the Year Awards Ceremony. The Shop Rat Foundation awarded Jack Roush of Roush Fenway Racing and Roush Industries with the 2007 Master Shop Rat of the Year Award. A custom built metal trophy, created by Colten Stepke and Steve Carpenter of Classic Turning Inc., was given to Jack Roush for his accomplishments as a Shop Rat. Please visit our 2007 Master Shop Rat of the Year Award page to learn more details about Mr. Roush and his accomplishments. Jack Roush hung out for a while, signing autographs and telling stories of his life to the Shop Rat crowd.
The day ended with a thrilling and entertaining race along with a post race Smash Mouth Concert.
